Players run FULL GALLOP, into 2002 Season June 25, 2002 Contact: Jon L. Egging, Marketing Director The Players opens its 69th season of professional theatre in grand style from June 26 through July 7 with FULL GALLOP, a comedy by Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson. The story itself revolves around Diana Vreeland, one of the most influential and charismatic women of the 20th century. Born in 1906 in Paris, she grew up at the turn of the century, borrowing from everyone she met in order to create a personal style that was legendary. As editor of Harpers Bazaar and Vogue magazines, the incomparable DianaVreeland stood at the center of American style for five decades, and chronicled the extraordinary people and events of her time. Fired from Vogue at a certain age, she re-invents herself, re-captures the country's imagination and charges "full gallop" into the future. Created for the stage by actress Mary Louise Wilson, who was fascinated by the Vreeland legend and wanted to portray her on stage, and writer Mark Hampton, FULL GALLOP is an exhilarating and hilarious portrait of this remarkable woman at a turning point in her life. The New Yorker called FULL GALLOP "a celebration of excess, energy, and the thrill of never looking back." This play is rated PG-13. The Players' production will star veteran actress Becky London, who will be recognized by many as the woman who brought "The Search For Signs Of Intelligent Life In The Universe" to the Barn in 1999. She has been seen in many New York productions including: "Marlene" on Broadway, "Ubu" at Lincoln Center, and "Isn't It Romantic" at the Louise Lortel Theatre. Players' Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen will direct the show, and local designer and Franklin Pierce College Professor, Lee Dunholter will design the sets. The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Hampshire Humanities Council, the A. Erland and Hazel M. Goyette Memorial Fund, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation. Season subscriptions are now on sale at the Players Box Office.
