Carmen Selling Fast at Peterborough Players
The Met: Live in HD Series a Hit

Peterborough, NH (January 07, 2010) – The Met: Live in HD opera series has already established a strong following in its first season at the Peterborough Players. Carmen, by Georges Bizet, will be simulcast on Saturday, January 16th at 1 PM. Tickets are extremely limited and must be purchased through the Box Office only: (603) 924-7585.

One of the most popular operas of all time, Carmen "is about sex, violence, and racism-and its corollary: freedom," says Oliver Award-winning director Richard Eyre about his new production of Bizet’s drama. “It is one of the inalienably great works of art. It’s sexy, in every sense. And I think it should be shocking." Elīna Garanča sings the seductive gypsy of the title for the first time at the Met, opposite Roberto Alagna as the obsessed Don José. Conducted by Yannick Néznet-Séguin. Approximate running time is 4 hours with 2 intermissions. Casting is subject to change without notice.
