The Met: Live in HD at the Peterborough Players
Turandot – Saturday, November 14th

Peterborough, NH (November 5, 2009) –The Peterborough Players will host the third opera in the Metropolitan Opera’s The Met: Live in HD series; Turandot, by Giacomo Puccini, on Saturday, November 14th. Turandot will be simulcast onto a 10’ X 16’ screen in the Players 250-seat theatre.

Director Franco Zeffirelli’s breathtaking production of Puccini’s last opera is a favorite of the Met repertoire. Maria Guleghina plays the ruthless Chinese princess of the title, whose hatred of men is so strong that she has all suitors who can’t solve her riddles beheaded. Marcello Giordani sings Calàf, the unknown prince who eventually wins her love and whose solos include the famous "Nessun dorma."

Reserved seating tickets are on sale for Turandot, as well as for the remaining 6 operas in the series. Tickets sold individually $25 adults, $20 students, or in discounted subscription packages; $140 for 7 operas, $115 for 5 operas. Approximate running time for Turandot is 3-½ hours with 2 intermissions. Cast is subject to change without notice.
