EXHIBITION: Great Art on Screen

Oct. 10, 2013, 8:00 p.m.

A new series for cinema screens at Peterborough Players!

The EXHIBITION series began with a career-encompassing collection of the works of Edouard Manet on exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in April. Next was an exhibition of the greatest number of Edvard Munch’s works ever, co-hosted by the National Museum and the Munch Museum in Oslo in June. The third exhibition, set for screenings in October, takes place at the National Gallery in London where audiences will see a unique perspective on the masterpieces of Johannes Vermeer.

EXHIBITION: Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure
Thursday October 10, 2013 at 8pm

Here is a fresh look at one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all – Johannes Vermeer, painter of the famous Girl with a Pearl Earring. The National Gallery has chosen to focus on Vermeer’s relationship with music. It is one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and reveals an enormous amount about the sitter and the society they lived in. New research, revealed for the first time at this exhibition, shows how his technique and materials affected his works. Tim Marlow goes beyond the exhibition, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, to tell the entire story of Vermeer’s life – and, in doing so, shows in fabulous HD detail many other of the artist’s captivating works.

EXHIBITION is a new theatrical series of events, bringing the world’s greatest art exhibitions to cinema screens worldwide. EXHIBITION features the world’s foremost upcoming art exhibitions, creatively captured especially for the big screen.
