The Peterborough Players is an 83 year-old, award-winning professional (CORST-zz with AEA and SDC) summer theatre in the beautiful Monadnock region of southwest New Hampshire, about 1 ½ hours from Boston. The Players produces seven mainstage and two intern plays for children and families during a 13 week season, and presents HD programming (including the Metropolitan Opera, the National Theatre, and the Bolshoi Ballet) the rest of the year. On-campus housing and a beautifully renovated theatre (including a counterweight fly system, trap room, and new lighting and sound equipment) give the Players a first-class facility. 2016 LOCAL AUDITIONS
The Peterborough Players will hold auditions and interviews for the 2016 season starting at 6:00 PM Thursday evening, March 10 at the Players’ theatre located at 55 Hadley Road, Peterborough. Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen will see auditions from members of Actors’ Equity, non-Equity local actors, and from those interested in joining the Players’ Second Company as an intern or apprentice.
Equity members should prepare two contrasting monologues. The audition will be a general one for the entire season, not necessarily for specific roles. Non-Equity actors who are not interested in a season-long internship or apprenticeship will audition for possible supporting roles in the Players’ larger-cast productions. Non-Equity actors should have at least one monologue prepared (memorized is preferred but not necessary) and be ready to read from one of the scripts from the season.
The Second Company is comprised of interns and apprentices who make a minimum 11 week commitment to the Players’ season. Intern actors will perform in the two Second Company plays, and many will play a supporting role in at least one of the subscription series plays. In addition, Second Company members work in the various technical shops and offices, and serve on run crews. Work begins for the Second Company on June 9; the earliest release date is August 28. Those interested in performing with the Second Company should prepare a monologue and be prepared to sing something a cappella. In addition to auditions for Second Company actors, interviews will be held for those interested in technical or administrative internships or apprenticeships.
The 2016 season will be announced in mid-February. Information on the plays will be found on the Players’ website,www.peterboroughplayers.org.
Auditions are by appointment only. To schedule a time or to obtain further information, call 603-924-9344.
