The Peterborough Players will present local favorite Todd Almond in concert at the theatre at 8:00 PM Saturday, January 11, 2003. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Players Box Office.

From his first appearance on the Players' stage as an intern in 1998, Almond has shown a remarkable range of talents: singer, actor, pianist, composer, and playwright. He is known to Peterborough audiences for such roles as Mr. G in Many Moons, Trent in Six Degrees of Separation, LM in Pump Boys and Dinettes, and Elvis in Picasso at the Lapin Agile. Along with Ann Harvey, he helped to invent the post-show cabarets that occur after most Friday and Saturday night performances, and he has been featured in the cabarets whenever he is in residence at the Players. He was named Best Visiting Actor at the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards for his portrayal of the title character in Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the Ensemble Theatre. His musical Girlfriend had a successful run in New York, and a concert of his original music, Remind Me of You, premiered at the Triad in New York.

People Like Us, for which Almond wrote the music and co-wrote the lyrics and book with Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen, had its world premiere during the Players' 2002 summer season. He served as music director and pianist for the show.

In addition to presenting the concert on January 11, Almond will be recording a new album during the week previous to the performance. He previously released an album of original music called Try To Hear, Try To Say. He is the vocalist on an album of songs by Ellen Mandel titled a wind has blown the rain away – e.e. cummings songs that recently received a rave review on NPR's All Things Considered.

Almond will be backed by his band from People Like Us, guitarist Bill Alletzhauser and percussionist Michael Horrigan. Todd will perform many of his original songs, some old standards, and maybe a surprise or two. This concert is sure to warm up a cold January night!

Tickets are available by calling the Players box office at (603)924-7585. The Peterborough Players is sponsored in part by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Hampshire Charitable Fund, the A. Erland and Hazel N. Goyette Memorial Fund, and the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Charitable Foundation.
