| The Peterborough Players Announces the 2008 Summer Season At the 2008 Annual Meeting on February 16, the Peterborough Players announced its 75th Anniversary season of plays to be produced at its historic theatre on Hadley Road. Season highlights include the return of James Whitmore Senior and Junior, two Pulitzer Prize winners, a legendary catcher, 3 British comedies, a timeless poet and, for the second year, a seventh show in the mainstage season. There will also be two shows for young audiences that will be produced and performed by the Players Second Company of interns and apprentices. There are also a number of 75th Anniversary events throughout the summer including: A Family/Children’s day July 12th, Players Alumni Weekend August 1 – 3, and a kickoff Cabaret with Lucie Arnaz on May 17th. Read More> PETERBOROUGH PLAYERS 2008 ANNUAL MEETING FEBRUARY 16 The Peterborough Players will hold its 2008 Annual Meeting at 6:30 PM Saturday, February 16, at the Peterborough Players Theatre, 55 Hadley Road, Peterborough. The formal purpose of the meeting is to elect trustees for the year 2008 and announce the 2008 season. While all who have an interest in the Players are invited, voting members of the corporation are considered to be those who made a cash contribution to the company in 2007, who purchased a subscription in 2007, or who purchased a ticket to a 2007 production. More> PETERBOROUGH PLAYERS TO HOLD AUDITIONS AND INTERVIEWS The Peterborough Players will hold auditions and interviews for the 2008 season from noon to 4 PM Sunday afternoon, February 17. Artistic Director Gus Kaikkonen will see auditions from members of Actors’ Equity, non-Equity local actors, and from those interested in joining the Players’ Second Company as an intern or apprentice. In addition to these sessions for the regular season, the Players will also see students interested in participating in its highly successful Ascending Stars collaborative project with area high school students. The Peterborough Players’ 19th annual auction on November 3rd will do double duty this year -- in addition to supporting the theatre’s operating budget, this year’s gala is designed to sparkle as the kickoff to the organization’s 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Year. The Peterborough Players would like to invite you to the show, and they have set up a very special deal for this holiday opening. Read More> Visiting Mr. Green Playwright, Jeff Baron, to Attend Opening Night The Peterborough Players is proud to announce that the internationally renowned and award winning author, Jeff Baron, will be on hand at the opening of his play Visiting Mr. Green on June 20th. His first play, VISITING MR. GREEN, opened Off-Broadway in December 1997 at the Union Square Theatre. Starring Eli Wallach and David Alan Basche, it ran for 354 performances and brought Baron national and international recognition. VISITING MR. GREEN has been performed in 27 countries and in 21 languages. It was nominated as Best Play by The Drama League, and has since received Best Play awards in Israel, Greece, Germany and Turkey. In Peterborough the roles will be played by veteran film and television actor David S. Howard as Mr. Green, and longtime Players acting company member Kraig Swartz. which were presented at the Palace Theatre in Manchester
The Peterborough Players have been honored with sixteen finalists out of hundreds of nominees for the 2007 New Hampshire Theatre Awards. The Awards, to honor outstanding achievement in New Hampshire Theatre in 2006, will be held at 7 PM on Friday, February 2 at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. Read More>

Opening on August 12 and running till August 19, THE SECRET GARDEN tells the heartwarming story of how a single child can transform the lives of those around her. A dark spell of sorrow and mystery hovers in the air as the young orphan, Mary Lennox, arrives at Misselthwaite Manor, the Yorkshire estate of her uncle Archibald Craven. She soon discovers an abandoned secret garden that once belonged to her uncle’s late wife, Lily. Now though, weeds grow where roses once bloomed. Mary decides that this place will be her secret refuge and she begins to tend the garden alone. Inside the manor, another secret lurks. At night, strange, haunting sounds echo down the empty corridors - is it the wind howling or a child crying? This mystery is so deep that is will take all Mary's determination and courage to solve it.
