Whitmore Award Announced at Peterborough Players
Second Company Intern Wins Prestigious Award

Peterborough, NH (August 29, 2011) – The 2011 James Whitmore Award, established through the William D. Eppes Endowment Fund, was presented on Saturday, August 27th to Ciara Ayala, a member of the Peterborough Players Second Company. Ciara received the coveted award and was presented with a medal and a $500 cash prize at a public ceremony after the Players’ final performance of Puss In Boots. Ciara served as the assistant stage manager of the Players’ two Second Company children’s shows this season. She is a stage management major at the University of Houston School of Theatre and Dance.

The James Whitmore Award was established nine years ago through the generosity of the late Mr. William D. Eppes. The winner of the award is nominated by Second Company peers, shop managers, and staff. The Second Company is made up of interns from around the country who hope to make a career of the theatre. During the season, in addition to producing and performing the two children’s shows, the interns also work on all aspects of the theatre, doing everything from building sets, sewing costumes, working with professional actors onstage in the Main Stage shows, and running all technical aspects of the shows.
