Working for Duke Orsino, she falls in love with him, but he sends her to woo Lady Olivia, who falls for "Cesario" instead. Confusion peaks when Sebastian arrives, leading to mistaken identities, with Olivia marrying Sebastian, thinking he is Cesario, while Orsino falls for Viola. Finally, the twins reunite, the chaos resolves, and pairs marry. A subplot features Olivia's household mocking her steward, Malvolio, with a cruel, forged-letter prank.
