The Royal National Theatre of Great Britain, commonly known as the National Theatre, is a performing arts venue and associated theatre company located in London, England. The theatre was founded by the actor Laurence Olivier in 1963, and many well-known actors have trodden the boards there. National Theatre Live has been sharing extraordinary performances by talents at the top of their game since 2009. As he prepares to embark on an overseas tour, star actor Garry Essendine’s colourful life is in danger of spiralling out of control. Engulfed by an escalating identity crisis as his many and various relationships compete for his attention, Garry’s few remaining days at home are a chaotic whirlwind of love, sex, panic and soul-searching. Filmed live from The Old Vic in London during a sold out run in 2019, Matthew Warchus (Matilda the Musical) directs this giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire and loneliness. Saturday, January 24th 2026, 1pm Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove by Armando Iannucci and Sean Foley co-adapted by Armando Iannucci co-adapted and directed by Sean Foley Seven-time BAFTA Award-winner Steve Coogan (Hamlet 2, Philomena, Night at the Museum) plays four roles in the world premiere stage adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s comedy masterpiece Dr. Strangelove. This explosively funny satire, about a rogue U.S General triggers a nuclear attack, a surreal race takes place, seeing the Government and one eccentric scientist scramble to avert global destruction. This play is led by a world-renowned creative team led including Emmy Award-winner Armando Iannucci (The Thick of It, Veep) and Olivier Award-winner Sean Foley (The Upstart Crow). Dr. Strangelove has a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes, including an intermission. Dr. Strangelove will be followed by a talkback with Firelight Theatre Workshop's Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director, Jason Lambert, and Keene State's Mark Holding. |
