​Summer 2026 Season

Peterborough Players 2026 Summer Season.

Peterborough Players is a 93-year-old summer stock theatre in Peterborough, New Hampshire. The Players operate on a CORST (zz) contract, producing a five-play summer season in 13 weeks (Two weeks rehearsal, two weeks performance.)

Mission: Peterborough Players enriches the human experience by producing quality live professional theatre, developing and training theatre artists, and offering New Hampshire a wide variety of performing arts events.

The 2026 season will include four plays and one musical. All production departments have professional leadership and work with a group of Core Company younger artists with varying skill levels. All production personnel are provided with housing for the season.

Available positions:

Production Manager

***Due to a change in circumstances for the previously hired candidate, this position has been reopened. Pre-season work starts immediately. ***

​Responsibilities:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the execution of all production and technical needs for Peterborough Players 2026 Summer Season of 4 plays, 1 musical, and various additional events.
Pre-season, part-time virtual work creating a production calendar and participating in meetings as needed for pre-season planning.
​
Schedule
Create and ensure adherence to the production schedule, detailing rehearsals, performances, changeovers, technical rehearsals, etc.
Oversee all aspects of production execution (design, build, load-in, load-out, light hang, costume fittings and maintenance, stage preparation, and sound installation)
Plan and supervise show changeovers (24hrs between closing of matinee to start of tech)
Coordinate and conduct regular production meetings and disseminate information to the production team as necessary
Budget
Develop the season production budget (and show-by-show budgets) and ensure adherence throughout summer, prioritizing timely expense tracking
Purchase/rent equipment and materials as necessary
Supervise staff with purchasing powers

Staff Management/Leadership
Manage summer production staff
Regularly review rehearsal and performance reports and coordinate execution of scenic notes in a timely and efficient manner
Participate in the hiring of summer staff
Work with the Artistic Director + Managing Director to provide essential information for contracts for designers and production staff
Create contact sheet for all productions
Provide timely and accurate production staff + company information to the Director of Marketing, including, but not limited to: Name, Title, Bio, etc
Maintain a safe workplace and ensure that safety rules are followed in the theater
Perform other related production work as required
Transition creative vision into execution
Participate in design review for feasibility of construction and budgetary standpoint
Work with creative teams to develop a vision that works within the time + budget constraints of a summer stock theater

Duration:  May 11th - Sept 6th, 2026
Salary: $900/week (plus one time $750 stipend for work prior to the season)

Technical Director 

The TD, ATD, and Lead Carpenter are a team that creates, builds and brings to life the summer seasons scenic designs. They assist each other as needed; they relieve each other as needed, and they manage the shop together. 

Responsibilities:
Ensures operation of the technical aspects of all productions, including the builds, load ins and strike – with a primary focus on building, painting, installing and striking the scenic elements of the productions
Creates build schedule for each show
Orders, acquires and potentially picks up materials for the set build
Works within the budget established for the set shop, and all set designs
Keeps accurate records of all costs associated with each set design, and general costs for the scenic shop
Assesses Core Company for a detail-oriented person, then designates and assigns that CC member to assist with daily uploading of purchase orders and receipts to keep shop on track with the budget – along with ATD – and ensures the timely filing of receipts associated with purchases for the set shop and materials for set designs
Creates and distributes all CAD drawings for all constructed elements to scenic staff 
Supervise and assist with the build of each of the 5 productions – rotating with the ATD and Lead carpenter to supervise the build
Determine any necessary technical support with other departments such as sound, lighting, stage management, costumes
Work with Designers, Directors, Stage Managers to ensure that process runs smoothly and any necessary changes are made in a timely fashion
Communicate with the ATD and Lead Carpenter regarding the working conditions in the shop, that safety protocols are being used and that the equipment is in good working order to provide a safe working environment for all staff and Core Company 
Attends tech rehearsals and production meetings in order to supervise and assist with the technical needs of the production before opening
Duties may change or shift based on the individual needs of each production and its timeline

Skills:
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks and knowledge of theatrical drafting standards

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Time management, organization, administrative and communication skills
Qualifications: Advanced degree in Tech Direction or equivalent work experience in the field

Duration:  May 21, 2025 – August 30, 2026
Salary:  $800/week, with $750 pre-season stipend

Assistant Technical Director 

The  TD, ATD, and Lead Carpenter are a team that creates, builds and brings to life the summer seasons scenic designs. They assist each other as needed; they relieve each other as needed, and they manage the shop together. 

Responsibilities:
Reports to the TD and works closely with the Lead Carpenter
Assists the TD with the build schedule as needed especially if ahead or behind schedule
Provides feedback on set build – keeping it safe, keeping it possible in our given time frame, and generating creative solutions to potential problems
Provides the day-to-day supervision of the build of the set designs and spearheads the changeover between productions
Actively engages in and supervises changeovers/load ins/strikes
Determines the job assignments for the Core Company assigned to the set shop
Assists the TD with tracking the budget and/or expenses relating to the shop - Assesses Core Company for a detail-oriented person, then designates and assigns that CC member to assist with daily uploading of purchase orders and receipts to keep shop on track with the budget – along with TD
Assists the TD with ordering, acquiring or picking up materials
Leads the construction, installation and strike of all sets for the season
Establishes and enforces safety protocols for the staff and Core Company working in the shop
Attends production meeting with TD
End of season, restores shop, generates list for necessary items to restock or replace – if time, purchases those items before departure
Duties may change or shift based on the individual needs of each production and its timeline

Skills: 
Proficiency and skill with AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks and knowledge of theatrical drafting standards
Knowledge and experience in the safe construction and engineering of theatrical scenery
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Patience with those who are learning, remaining positive and calm in challenging situations
Ability to adapt in a fast-paced season
Experience with the wide variety of tools used in an active scene shop
Troubleshooting skills in terms of construction
Willingness to work safely with proper safety equipment and model safe behavior
Knowledge of both hand tools and power tools 

Duration:  May 25, 2025 – August 23, 2026
Salary:  $700/week

Scenic Charge Artist

Responsibilities:
Coordinate, oversee and execute all stage paint treatments for a 5-show summer stock season
Attend Production meetings
Work with TDs to create schedule for painting all scenic elements
Work with Prop Supervisor on painting of any furniture
Plan and execute stage floor painting during tight changeover schedule
Work with designers to accomplish stage paint treatments according to designs
Oversee and guide Scenic Artist Apprentice 
Take care of onstage paint notes as needed
Manage overnight calls necessary for changeovers
Oversee purchasing of paint for all shows within budget
Oversee the safe storage of paint and equipment and keeping a clean space
Duties may change or shift based on the individual needs of each production and its timeline

Skills:
Understanding of theatrical paint techniques
Good collaborator
Team-oriented attitude
Proficient in color mixing 
Knowledge of faux finish techniques (wood graining and marbling etc)
Knowledge of treatments for various materials (wood, foam, steel etc.)
Knowledge of patching and finishing techniques to prep surfaces for paint
Experience managing a budget and calculating square footage when determining needed materials
Proficient in reading scaled drawings
Proficient in measuring and layout techniques and tools
Experience leading/teaching others in paint techniques
Ability to be flexible with shifts in work schedules or overnights
Is comfortable working outside in various weather conditions

Duration:  May 25, 2025 – August 23, 2026
Salary:  $600/week

Tech/Production Core Company 

Core Company apprentices are sought in all Tech/Production and Administrative areas such as scenic/artist, carpentry, props, lighting, audio, costumes, stage management and admin. Those with specific interests and abilities will be assigned primarily to those areas, only temporarily moving to another area if needed. Core Company are also responsible for daily maintenance /clean-up of the theatre at the end of each day’s shift.

Note well: The schedule is demanding on all staff and the Core Company. A summer stock season requires commitment and discipline, but the opportunities to learn, grow, and create long-lasting relationships are immense. Core Company will work in “pods “ in order to create multiple shifts throughout the day. Staff will also rotate with the pods. One pod will relieve another so that the first can take a meal break and rest, then return, while the relief pod rests before a crew assignment in the evening. This is to ensure that Staff and Core Company members get adequate time to rest, eat and take care of their personal needs.

There will be times of “all hands on deck” due to production requirements/changeover, etc.

Duration: May 25,2025 - August 23, 2025
Dates may be negotiable depending on position
Salary: $400/week, plus housing ​
